Troubles seem to be unending for actor Salman Khan. According to recent reports, Supreme Court has admitted Rajasthan Court's plea against Salman Khan. On Friday, the Supreme Court admitted Rajasthan Court's plea challenging the acquittal of Salman in the Jodhpur Chinkara poaching case.
In July, the Rajasthan High court had acquitted Salman in the two separate cases of Chinkara poaching in Jodhpur. The court said that the statement of the driver, who was the key witness when the accident took place cannot be taken into consideration as he had disappeared during the trial. The driver Harish Dulani was present with Khan during the incident and had revealed that it was the actor who had shot the gazelle. However, the court said, since he was not present during the hearing, the defence could not question him, which made his statement void.
The decision by High Court’s decision overruled the one meted out by the two trial courts that convicted the Bollywood actor. As per the ruling of the trial court in 2006, the actor was given one and five years of imprisonment, following which the superstar had to spend 13 days in jail.
Rajasthan government had last month moved the plea to Supreme Court on the account that High Court's judgement was marred by 'legal infirmities'.
