Hrithik Roshan, who portrays a visually impaired character in ‘Kaabil’, pledged to donate his eyes on his birthday earlier in January. After watching the trailer of ‘Kaabil’, Prof. Dr. S. Natarajan from Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital contacted Hrithik’s father and filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and asked him if Hrithik would be interested in promoting eye donation. To his surprise, Rakesh told him that Hrithik had already pledged to donate his eyes.
“I spoke to Hrithik. He invited me over on his birthday and did as he had planned (campaign to promote pledging), but he asked us to not talk about it as he didn’t want this to be used to promote 'Kaabil'. Now that 'Kaabil' has released and is a great success, we would like people to know of Hrithik’s act and encourage the public to pledge their eyes and share the light, and follow his example.” said Natarajan.
He continued, “I wanted to make it a part of the movie promotions, too, but Hrithik didn’t want to mix the two. He said that the movie will come and go, but he genuinely wanted to pledge his eyes, and wants to do more for this cause.”
Talking highly of Hrithik for his this noble thought, Dr. Natarajan concluded, “He understood the plight of those without vision after working in ‘Kaabil’. Hence his noble thought has to be appreciated.”
