The best inspirations in Bollywood are the ones taken from real people's life choices. And rightly so, Farhan Akhtar too is taking inspiration for his next film from the real-life adventures of filmmaker Homi Adajania. Homi has been touring around the world but is currently back home. He will soon take off to South Africa for a safari, then will be back to India for snowboarding in Kashmir. Post which he is trying hands on to line up a diving expedition to a live volcano in the Andamans.
And Homi's one such adventure has now inspired Farhan's next film, a black comedy - 'Fakir In Venice'. Apart from Farhan, the film also stars Annu Kapoor, Kamal Sidhu, Italian actress Valentina Carnelutti and German actor Mathieu Carriere. It will be helmed by director Anand Surapur and is to be produced by Punit Desai.
Talking about the film to a leading tabloid, Homi said, "Anand Surapur (the director) read my ‘fakir’ article in a magazine and called me up saying they wanted to turn it into a film. I wasn’t making films at the time but I wanted to go to Peru. I gave them the rights in return for the amount I needed to get to South America."
He further added, "Later I heard 'Fakir of Venice' had been shown at some film festival in Los Angeles but then nothing more. For some reason, I wasn’t shown the film for years and never really asked to see it. I saw it for the first time 10 days ago. It has been dramatised for screen but is based on some of the stuff that actually happened."
The makers plan to shoot the film in Mumbai, Banaras, Ladakh, and Venice. And it deals with complexities of relationships and human behaviour.
