'Rang De Basanti' director, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, is all set to make his next film on Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. Titled as 'Mere Pyare Pradhan Mantri', Rakeysh's next is the story set against the backdrop of Narendra Modi's sanitation drive.
The director spoke about the film at the Brahmaputra Literary Festival, Rakeysh said, "The film is about an eight-year-old boy, Kanhaiya, who desires to make a toilet for his mother.” The director was present at the festival to promote his book 'Rang de Basanti: The Shooting Script'.
Talking about his inspiration behind the movie, Rakeysh said, "The film will be made with grass root crowd funding from NGOs or as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). I tell the story of the land I come from and which I understand thoroughly like about Milkha Singh, Bhagat Singh, Mirzya etc but now that I have lived in Mumbai for some years and did research for the last three years on this script that I have dared to go ahead and make the film."
Apart from 'Mere Pyare Pradhan Mantri', Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's 'Toilet -Ek Prem Katha' is another film, which is being made on Prime Minister Modi's 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'.
