Due to Varun Dhawan's portrayals of a naughty, flirtatious boy-next-door in many of his films, the actor is often compared with the likes of Govinda. However, the 'Aa Gaya Hero' thinks that these comparisons are "fake". Talking about the same, Govinda had earlier said, "How can he (Varun) be like me? To become Govinda, he needs to be innocent, uneducated and a poor village boy. Varun is already a son of a director. In the last six years, he hasn't done more than two films with his father, whereas I did 17 films with his father (David Dhawan)."
When Varun, during the 'Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya'promotions, was asked about Govinda's comment, the actor chose to ignore and not answer. But, the actor recently opened up about the same during an interview, and said, "Alochna honi chahiye…Alochan se mein bahut kuch seekhta hoon. Woh kehte hai mujhme aur unmei koi samantaye nahi hai. Yeh sahi hai. Kisi mein samantayein ho bhi nahi sakti. Woh varisht hai, mein unka samman karta hoon. Mein unki barabari kabhi nahi kar sakta." (Criticisms should happen... I've learnt from criticisms. Govinda Sir thinks there are no similarities between me and him, which is true. There cannot be similarities. He is a senior actor, and I respect him a lot. I cannot match up to his level)
Well, let's see what Govinda has to say about Varun's recent comment.
