Akshay Kumar to play Gulshan Kumar in his biopic ‘Mogul’)Following this, in an exclusive interview with team MissKyra, the music Mogul’s daughters Tulsi Kumar and Khushali Kumar spoke about how close the project is to their heart and what it means to them to tell their father’s story to the people.
What does Akshay Kumar playing your father on screen mean to you? Khushali: It means a lot, it is a very emotional thing for us and we are very proud to present papa’s story to everyone because his entire journey has been very inspiring. Having Akshay Kumar to play papa’s role is really nice because there are a lot of similarities between them. Akshay is also from Delhi, he is also a Punjabi and he believes a lot in Vaishno Maa and is a very religious person by heart. So there are a lot of things that are common between them and it feels really nice that he will be playing papa’s role.
Will we also get to see your relationship with your father as an integral part of the film? Tulsi: It is more about Papa’s journey, how he built the entire empire single-handedly and rose from rags to riches and gave a platform to so many people. Lot of aspects of his life will be shown but it is too early for us to comment on anything. Subhash Kapoorji, who is bringing the whole plot together, would be able to give a clearer picture.
As his daughters, would you want any special memory or aspect of your relationship to be shown on screen? Khushali: Each and every thing is very special and very dear. From the way he used to encourage us to do whatever we want to do, like for Tulsi with her music, he could notice who is good at what.
Tulsi: He was a visionary, not just for his own children but for so many people out there in the industry who are big names today.
You both have dedicated a beautiful song to him, ‘Mere Papa’. Is there a possibility that it would be a part of ‘Mogul’? Tulsi: I was just thinking about it the other day. Let’s see how things shape up and what is required in the movie.
Would you want to sing for the movie? Tulsi: I definitely would want to sing for the movie because I love music and that love for music was spotted by my father. And today when a film is being made on his journey, for me to sing in that film would mean life taking a full circle. And that is something I would definitely want to do and I am sure papa would want me to sing for the film.
