Manisha Koirala will be next seen playing the role of Sanjay Dutt's mother Nargis Dutt in the actor's biopic. The untitled film, which will see Ranbir Kapoor step into Sanjay's shoes, is directed by the ace filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Manisha, who once played roles opposite Sanjay, is all set to play Sanjay's mother in the film. Bring this up with the actress, and Manisha says, "Yeah, that’s true. But Sanju and I haven’t interacted so far. I am sure he is aware that I have been cast and I have shot portions of the film. I’m sure once we have some time on hand, we will interact. There’s a lot to catch up."
When helmer Rajkumar Hirani had announced Manisha's part in the film, the filmmaker had reasoned that he cast her not only because she fit the bill but also because she has braved cancer and would relate with the character better. Adding onto this, Manisha said, "As an artiste, one has to pull off a role convincingly, and how I do it is my look out. It doesn’t matter if one has a real experience to draw inspiration. Yes, I have braved cancer and I can relate with that near-death situation and it will be easier to portray that element in the film. But I’m not a mother and it will be difficult to relate to that emotion but this is the beauty of my job."
We couldn't agree more on what Manisha has to say about her role in the film!
