Diljit Dosanjh, who is already a superstar in the Punjabi film industry, rose to fame in Bollywood with 'Udta Punjab'. The actor's next film 'Phillauri' stars him alongside Anushka Sharma and the film is soon to release on March 24. While Diljit has been talking to may filmmakers to decide his next Bollywood film, rumour mills were abuzz that the actor has signed Salman Khan-Karan Johar production that stars Akshay Kumar in the lead.
The film is said to be based on the battle of Saragarhi, and according to reports, Diljit was to join Akshay in this Salman-Karan co-production. However, in an interaction with PTI, Diljit refuted the rumours of signing on the film. Diljit said, "Those are wrong reports. I am not doing anything in it. It's a big film and a big subject. I am not in the film but there is excitement for Anurag. He is an amazing person and I am very happy for him."
The helmer of the film is Anurag Singh who has collaborated with Diljit on successful films like 'Jatt and Juliet', 'Jatt and Juliet 2', 'Disco Singh', and 'Punjab 1984'.
There were also reports that Diljit has signed on to Anushka Sharma's next production 'Kaneda'. Director Navdeep Singh even confirmed that Arjun Kapoor and Diljit will be a part of the film. However, Diljit neither confirmed nor denied the news, and said, "Till the time things don't go on floors, I don't think about it at all. I am only thinking about my next Hindi release 'Phillauri' right now and a Punjabi film that I am doing."
'Phillauri' is the first time that Anushka and Diljit will be sharing screen space. And along with the unusual pairing of Anushka and Diljit, the film will also star Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada.
