A few days ago the makers of 'Jolly LLB 2' released the trailer of the film, and it garnered praises in abundance from the audience. Akshay Kumar as an amateur lawyer and Annu Kapoor in the role of an experienced lawyer managed to create quite an interest around the film.
But, looks like their happiness is short-lived. The makers of 'Jolly LLB 2' have landed themselves in a legal soup. A scene in the trailer of the film has mentioned a shoe brand, which filed a case against them for defamation and commercial disparagement. The shoe brand filed a case because they think that a dialogue in the film runs down their brand, and makes it come across as a cheap quality product.
As reported in a leading daily, the shoe brand in their notice have mentioned that the dialogue is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the brand, perhaps on the instigation of its competitors considering the film’s protagonist, Akshay Kumar, is the face of the rival brand. They have further asked the makers to immediately pull down the dialogue from the trailer from all online sites and theatres. They have demanded a written apology for running down the brand image, and an undertaking that they will not tarnish the brand name thereafter. They also want the makers to add a disclaimer that the brand name was used by mistake, and did not intend any damage to the brand.
Legal notices have been sent to everyone who is associated with the film. The list includes Fox Star Studios India, along with executive producer Naren Kumar, company directors Deepak Jacob and Amit Shah, writer-director Subhash Kapoor and actors Akshay Kumar and Annu Kapoor.
Director Subhash has also confirmed that he has received a notice, and added, "The producers will talk about it, I’m not authorised to."
