It has been a while since we have seen a film with two senior actors as the main protagonists, a trend which was common back in the 90s and 80s. Some of the most loved films with two male protagonists are ‘Sholay’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Jodi No. 1’, and ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’.
Unfortunately, Box Office experts say it is extremely difficult to have two senior actors on board for a project as their high fee makes the decision financially unfeasible. Also, once these actors have established themselves, their focus shifts things like who would get the meatier role, more screen space, better songs and better dialogues. In the past, this has led to a fallout between actors post the films, which has now steadily put an end to having two senior actors in a film.
However, in a recent interview with the DNA, Akshay Kumar had mentioned that he is open to doing a film which stars another senior actor, “I am open to doing a two hero film. In fact, I have been approached for one and I am considering it.” When asked what about the ego clashes and insecurities? “Why should I care about all that? If there are more actors, I will have to do less work to do in the film, so it’s good for me in a way,” said Akshay.

I would love to do a film with another actor friend. In fact, I have had a word with some of my colleagues in the industry. We were discussing and planning to do a two-hero film. So let’s see what happens. It’s only about finding the right script that does justice to both actors.”

Not just this, a Bollywood source recently revealed that there’s a possibility we would soon see the two actors together on the silver screen. “They have found a great script which is perfect and they both have lead roles,” said the source.
That really is something to watch out for! Are you excited?
