A Japanese actor named Miki Ryosuke discovered a novel technique that may help you lose belly fat fast. With the help of this method, Ryosuke reportedly lost 13 kg and 12 cm from his waist in just a few short weeks.
Ryosuke was practising a 2-minute exercise routine that was prescribed to him by a doctor to help with his back pain. However, this short daily routine ended up working to do more than offer relief from back pain.
Ryosuke has termed this technique the long-breath diet. In a standing position, you inhale for three seconds and then exhale for seven seconds. This method could also help boost your metabolism and make your muscles stronger. Why does it work?Oxygen helps break down fat cells into carbon and water. It may also help you burn more fat.
However, not everyone is convinced of this latest trend's effect. "Contraction of muscles caused by exercise mobilises fat stores," Professor Ian Macdonald, professor of metabolic physiology at the School of Biomedical Sciences in Derbyshire, told a news portal. Adding, "But it is only vigorous aerobic sport that triggers enough energy to turn fat into fuel. Deep breathing alone will burn up fat by two per cent at best."
Richard Godfrey, a chief physiologist at the British Olympic Medical Centre, also has doubts about the effectiveness of the technique. "Medium to high intensity work out - such as rowing, brisk walking, or running - over a long period is the only way to burn up fat and elevate metabolism," Godfrey told a news portal. Adding, "Deep breathing and gentle exercises for five minutes a day is not going to burn up enough calories to transform body shape."
While a little deep breathing won't hurt, some experts say you may not see massive results. "Basically you can't get something for nothing," Professor Stanley. Adding "Any of these fads are an easy sell, but there's no theoretical background to support anything like this. There are no shortcuts."
However, some health experts say this technique does have its benefits. Astudy conducted by a team from Hampton University found deep breathing exercises in combination with yoga helped overweight teens lose weight. "Though not a substitute for exercise, it's a great first step for women just beginning an exercise plan, and deep breathing enhances the benefits of any form of exercise," Marcelle Pick, OB/GYN NP, told a news portal.
