As a woman, there are multiple things we get to experience. From getting our period to being able to bear children and even going through menopause, there are so many experiences that we go through in just one lifetime. While each experience is different for each woman when it comes to menopause most women struggle with certain symptoms. Menopause usually occurs when a woman reaches her late forties or early fifties. Oestrogen levels in the body start to decrease and eventually periods start to occur in fewer frequencies until they stop completely.
For some women, this entire process of menopause passes without any trouble. Others go through a plethora of problems like hot flushes, depression, weight gain and even brain fog. All of this happens because of the hormonal fluctuations their bodies go through. However, that doesn't mean there aren't any ways to keep these hormones in check. If you're someone who's just started to go through menopause, here are some ways in which you can handle things better.
Consume the right diet: You need to ensure that you're consuming a diet that is rich in proteins, nutrients and vitamins. Try to consume a lot of dairy products like milk, yoghurt and tofu and also green veggies like kale and spinach as these are all super-rich in calcium. Foods like fish, eggs, salmon and cod liver oil will give you that dose of Vitamin D. Try to cut down on products like sugar, alcohol and caffeine as these can lead to insomnia and hot flushes.
Be on the move: Exercising can really help you keep all the hormonal stuff at bay. When you workout, feel-good hormones called endorphins are released and these can help bust stress levels and can also help uplift your mood. Try to find something you enjoy doing like running or swimming or opt for a sport like badminton. Make sure that you're getting some exercise at least thrice a week.
Pay attention to yourself: This is the time when you need to be paying more attention to yourself. Speak to your friends and family about the things you're going through and take help if you need it. Try doing things that you love as it'll help create a better mental space for you. And remember that like everything else in life, this too shall pass.
Follow these tips and see how well they work for you. Stay tuned for more updates.
