At this point, just about everyone across the globe has been forced into lockdown or quarantine due to the dreaded coronavirus pandemic. And while people are allowed to step out to get basic necessities, they've also been advised to avoid going out as much as possible. This means that all of us are spending at least 90% of our time indoors. And since this is the case now, one must ensure that their living quarters are spic and span.
You might not be aware of this but dust happens to be amongst the leading allergens that can cause one to fall unwell. That's why it's about time you start cleaning up your house so that you and your family members don't fall sick during this pandemic. Advanced research scientist in microbiology at Dyson, Gem McLuckie, says, "Household dust can be a concern, as it may contain allergens such as dust mite faeces and pollen. Mattresses, bedding, upholstery including curtains and carpets can all accumulate unseen dust."
"All of our research has shown that the best way to deal with bacteria, pollen and dust mite allergens is to remove them from your home completely," McLuckie advises. As we mentioned earlier, it's extremely important for you to not fall ill during this trying time. So, if you're planning on giving your house a good deep clean, here are some tips to remember.
-Always use a damp cloth or cleaning wipes to dust areas since they'll be able to gather dust more easily.
-Apart from the floor, you should also regularly vacuum your furniture like your sofas and chairs and vacuum your mattresses as well since all of these are prone to skin cell debris and dust accumulation.
-You must also dust your curtains and blinds since dust can accumulate on them very easily. Either vacuum your curtains or put them in the wash if that's an applicable option.
-Make sure you also dust your kitchen cabinets since they're also prone to accumulating a lot of dust over long time periods. Use a damp cloth and some detergent water to give them a good clean.
-While you're at it, make sure to also clean your walls with a damp cloth since they're more prone to developing mold or fungi and that can also lead to illnesses.
-Dust all the light fixtures in your house, clean your refrigerator and also clean up all the drawers and wardrobes in your house.
Make sure to keep these tips in mind. Stay tuned for more updates.
