We're all aware of just how bad sitting in one place all the time can be for your physical health and mental health. A sedentary lifestyle has been associated with a number of health risks and diseases. And while under normal circumstances you may have been doing your best to avoid being a couch potato, now that we're all stuck indoors indefinitely, how does one avoid the couch at all? Well, just because you're inside doesn't mean you can't get moving. So, if you're looking to combat that sedentary lifestyle, here are some tips that will help.
-Stand as much as you can: Instead of just sitting around all day, try to incorporate standing into your work routine. Take calls while you're standing or walk around while you're having a discussion with your colleagues. It'll help you stay alert too.
-Do some chores. Cooking and cleaning can also serve as exercise if you do it right. Since you'll have to be standing and moving around while doing both, these chores can also help you burn calories. And who knows? Maybe you'll come up with a rather tasty dish on the way to fitness.
-Exercise: Of course, this should go without saying. Now that you're stuck indoors for who knows how long, you must ensure you opt for at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day. Not only will it keep you in shape but it'll also ensure your body stays fit.
-Meditate: It's very important for you to be in a good place mentally during this time which is why meditation can help. Find a spot in the house and then spend at least 15 minutes per day doing some deep breathing exercises and practising meditation techniques.
