Much like Diwali when firecrackers are burst, Halloween too could be rather dangerous for your furry friends. And if you have a dog who gets spooked easily, you must ensure that he/she feels safe and is kept out of harm's way. Read on for safety tips to help you get into the Halloween spirit and keep your dog safe this Halloween...
1. Do not overdo it with the costume
Despite the fact that markets are filled with adorable dog costumes for Halloween, you must understand that it could put him/her in a lot of discomfort and distress. Make sure you pick one that does not cover the eyes, ears or mouth and avoid choking hazards by doing away with buttons or necklaces. Make sure that their costume does not restrict them in any way.
2. Be careful with the candy
It's easy to hand your dog treats during Halloween whilst distributing it to the neighbours, however, ensure you know just how much you have been treating him. And if you do take your dog trick-or-treating, make sure to have a trusty leash on them.
3. Avoid the unnecessary scares
If your dog gets spooked easily then ensure that you keep them in a part of your house that does not have Halloween decor. The noise and the fact that unknown people in costumes are seemingly trying to come into your home can create extreme stress for your furry friend.
Celebrating Halloween can be fun for you, but for your pets...not very much. Ensure you make the holiday a safe one for them.
