Waking up in the middle of the night feeling thirsty and as you step into the kitchen to get water, the first thing you notice is cockroaches dancing in your kitchen. Happened to you? Cockroaches are the uninvited guests in most homes. Not only they are not liked by anyone, but also they can cause you several diseases. These insects can multiply faster than you think and if not treated on time, before you would know your house will be theirs.
Set a cockroach trap for them. Begin by mixing equal parts of baking soda with sugar and spray it on the areas of your home where they are more likely to visit. This will act as bait to the cockroach trap to get rid of them for good.
It’s believed that cockroaches can’t stand the smell of bay leaves, thanks to its medicinal qualities. Take some bay leaves and grind them into a fine powder. Now sprinkle this powder around the nooks and corner of your house where they are seen often.
Apart from de-stressing you, essential oils like lavender and peppermint oil can help to sho away cockroaches. Mix equal parts of both the essential oil in a spray bottle and spray it in your closet, cupboards, shelves, and other places where they can be visiting frequently or nesting.
Lemon contains pathogenic properties to repel insects, including cockroaches. Squeeze some lemon juice in a bottle and spray it on suspected areas of your house. You can also use the lemon peel by grinding up into a powder to sprinkle on the corners of your house.
If nothing works, you can take help from borax, a highly poisonous substance. Mix 3 tablespoon of borax with one tablespoon of sugar to bait the cockroaches out from their hidden chambers. As they eat this, they are more likely to die within a few hours.
