Most of us didn't like eating bitter gourd (karela) as kids and still don't. But at least as grown ups, we do realize how nutritious this vegetable is. Although, we have found ways in which we can use bitter gourd benefits for our health. One of which is by making some homemade packs that can do wonders to our skin and scalp.
Here are a few ways in which you can use bitter gourd in your beauty routine:
- Bitter gourd and curd hair mask:
You need - 1 bitter gourd, 1 cup curd and a bowl to mix.
This is how you make it - You can add the juice of this vegetable in a bowl and mix it with one up of curd using a spoon. You can then apply this mixture on the lengths of your hair and you need to make sure that your hair is dry. you can wear a shower cap and leave the hair mask on for 30 minutes before you rinse it off with your usual shampoo.
- Bitter gourd and cucumber face pack:
You need - 1 cucumber, 1 bitter gourd and a blender.
This is how you make it - You can start by deseeding the bitter gourd and cucumber. Then dice them into small pieces and blend it well in a blender. You don't need to add any water as you need to maintain a thick paste. You can then use a brush to apply this paste on your face as well as your neck. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before you wash it off with cold water. You can repeat this every single day for best result.
- Bitter gourd and orange scrub:
You need - 1 bitter gourd, 4-5 dried orange peels and a blender.
This is how you make it - You need to cut the bitter gourd and start deseeding the vegetable You can add the seeds in a blender and add some dried orange peels in there to blend it both together. Don't add water and prepare the paste as it is. You can then clean your face with cold water and then gently scrub the face using this mixture. Don't be too harsh on your skin. Move your fingers in a circular motion on your face for about 5-10 minutes. You can then wash your face with cold water. You can make use of this scrub once a week.
