When most think 'November', it's likely that 'No Shave November' pops right up. It is that time of the year when men all across drop their razors for an entire month until December 1st rolls around. Some men view it as a competition to see who grows the best beard and others do it truly to support the cause. What cause, you ask? Well, the whole purpose of No Shave November is not to let your beards grow crazy, but to raise awareness for different kinds of cancer including prostate cancer.
Men, you'll will be supporting cancer awareness if you'll follow No Shave November and if you're really doing it right, it is likely that you'll will be contributing to cancer research too. However, there are a couple of negatives that come with No Shave November and if no one has informed you about them, we will...
1. Not everyone can achieve a full-bearded look: We hate to break it to you, but no one wants to see a man that can only grow patches of uneven gross facial hair.
2. Hipster beards aren't 'en vogue': We're sad to be the bearer of this information, but hipster beards aren't cool anymore.
3. No Shave November is highly sexist: Women cannot participate in No Shave November because if a woman lets go of the razor for a whole month, it will be considered as 'gross', however, if a man does it, it will be considered as 'he is supporting a cause'. It's not right to have different expectations based on typical cultural roles and gender norms.
4. To grow a beard, it takes longer than a month: Usually, it takes months and months for any man to grow the most glorious, luscious beard that many women go crazy about. And if you expect to grow a hip beard in just one month, you are sadly and terribly mistaken.
Men, did you'll ever give these things a thought?
