A UAE-based Indian billionaire is all to produce the Indian epic, 'Mahabharataa' with a budget of Rs 1000cr. In what can be touted as the India's biggest ever motion picture, the project will be helmed by the noted adman and filmmaker V A Shrikumar Menon.
This magnum opus will be produced in two parts with the first part scheduled to go on floors in September 2018. The first part is expected to release in the early 2020 and the second part is expected to release within 90 days of the first part.
The script for this magnum opus is adapted from M T Vasudevan Nair's novel 'Randamoozham' (The Second Turn), which narrates 'The Mahabharata' through the eyes of Bhima, the second Pandava. Nair, who holds the record of maximum National Awards for screenwriting in the history of Indian cinema will write the screenplay of the movie.
Producer BR Shetty, who is a founder and chairman of UAE Exchange and NMC Healthcare said, "The film will be shot primarily in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu and will be dubbed into major Indian languages and leading foreign languages. The movie would be a true 'Make in India' made for the world."
This grand project will mark the coming together of the crème de la crème of Indian and global cinema in terms of cast and crew. With talent from both east and west coming together, this project can be defined as grand at best!
“This film will have an identity across continents, with their representatives donning the myriad characters in ‘The Mahabharata’! A global team led by an internationally renowned casting director will handpick the cast,” the director said.
While SS Rajamouli and Shah Rukh Khan both have expressed interest in producing the epic, B R Shetty's production venture will indeed be a delight!
