Aside from being a stellar actress and a complete fashion diva, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is also well-known for her philanthropic side. The actor is UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and will now be getting recognition for her work. Priyanka will be receiving the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award for her work with children in different parts of the country and for creating awareness about issues faced by them.
“UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador @priyankachopra will receive the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at our #UNICEFSnowflake Ball this December! An incredible voice for children — including on her recent visit to Ethiopia,” UNICEF announced in a post on Twitter.
Priyanka has been working extensively with UNICEF since 2006. She was appointed as the national UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010 and Global Ambassador in 2016.
Apart from her work in India, the actor has visited refugee children in different parts of the world, including Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and most recently, Sudan.
UNICEF had created the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award as a tribute to American actor-singer and philanthrophist Danny Kaye. Danny had worked extensively with organization and was also the first ambassador-at large of UNICEF in 1954. He also received the French Legion of Honour in 1986 for his work with UNICEF.
Priyanka took to social media to thank UNICEF, sharing a picture captioned, “So incredibly humbled. Thank you @unicefusa for honouring me with the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in December! My work with @unicef on behalf of all the world's children means everything to me.. Here’s to peace freedom and the right to education.. #ForEveryChild”
On the work front, Chopra recently wrapped up the shoot for ‘The Sky Is Pink.’ Aside from acting in the film, Priyanka will also be producing the film. She will sharing screen space along with Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim.
