Ever since news broke out that Ranveer Singh was to star in Kabir Khan's '83', people couldn't wait to hear more about the film. Ranveer is to star as cricketer Kapil Dev in the sports drama film which revolves around the cricketer and India's world cup 1983 victory. For the longest time, there were rumours that Ranveer's real-life wife Deepika Padukone had been roped in to play the role of Romi Dev who is cricket legend Kapil Dev's wife. However, no one had revealed much about the casting.
Now, Ranveer Singh has finally made an official announcement confirming that Deepika is indeed all set to take on the role in the film. And Ranveer being Ranveer couldn't just do without coming up with something hilarious. The actor took to his Twitter account to put up a hilarious boomerang of himself and Deepika in which Deepika is seen hitting Ranveer with a cricket bat. He captioned the post, "Story of my life - real and reel!"
Deepika also took to her social media handles to express her gratitude towards being chosen to play the part. She wrote, "And on to the next... Thank you, Kabir Khan for this incredible honour!" Ranveer obviously had a hilarious reply to this as he wrote, "And this time we don't die in the end! Yay!" Well, we can say we agree with him because we've also had enough of the two of them dying in their films!
Ranveer, Deepika and Kabir all posed together as she was welcomed to the film and their photos are just adorable. It clearly shows just how much fun they're having and this goes to prove that they're going to have an amazing time shooting together for the film. While Deepika kept things simple in a monotone ensemble, Ranveer is also seen looking dapper in casuals.
Deepika had earlier spoken about how she thinks Ranveer is the best choice to play this role. She said, "The personal equation doesn't spill over into the workspace. I can't think of anyone else who could do justice to the role (of Kapil Dev), but if there was someone else playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would still do my part. This isn't coming from a personal equation, but from my passion and enthusiasm for the film."
Directed by Kabir Khan, '83' is all set to release on April 10, 2020. Stay tuned for more updates.
