Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his wife, actress Jaya Bachchan celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary on Monday. The duo is one of the most adored couples in the B-town industry and although they're rather poised all the time and hardly show any public displays of affection, Big B is known to share special posts to commemorate special occasions and this time he did it yet again.
Amitabh wrote about how he got married to Jaya and what exactly the reason was for them to get married and while you may have thought it to be rather conventional, turns out it has a Bollywood like twist to it. Apparently, back in 1973 Amitabh and Jaya who were dating at the time wanted to travel to London to celebrate the success of a film with a group of their friends. However, Amitabh's father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan told him that the duo would only be allowed to travel to London if they got married first. So, they did! Now, if that isn't the most Bollywood-like romantic story, we don't know what is.
Here's what Big B wrote on his blog. “Seeking or rather informing parents that we were a group of friends going to England .. who all are going came the query from Babuji .. names disclosed .. Jaya is also going with you .. you both are alone .. yes .. if you have to go marry and go,” he wrote on his blog. So Amitabh and Jaya decided to tie the knot the very next day and catch their flight to London at night."
“I dress up in formal marriage Indian .. get into my car and want to drive to Malabar Hill where her friends lived and where the ceremony was to be done .. my driver Nagesh, pushes me out and insist he would drive me to the wedding .. the substitute for the tradition horse... off I went .. wedding over in a few hours .. done .. Mr and Mrs proclaimed .. over !!,” he wrote.
Well, we wish the couple many more years of happiness and joy together. Stay tuned for more updates.
