Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha will soon be seen sharing the screen space for the first time in the modern-day adaptation of the 1969 murder mystery ‘Ittefaq’. The original movie starred Rajesh Khanna and Nanda, and Sidharth feels it is an absolute honour for him to be given a chance to recreate their magic on screen. He feels the film would be an absolute delight for the viewer’s as it’s been a long while since Bollywood has produced a movie of this genre.
He clarified that the film is not a remake, but an adaptation of the classic Rajesh Khanna thriller. “There will obviously be changes. We can’t keep the ending the same because then there would be no mystery otherwise. Abhay Chopra is reworking the entire plot and no, it’s not a period film. It’s based in contemporary times,” added Sidharth.
While the makers are intending to produce a film which is shorter than two hours, they have come to decide that it won’t be having any songs as well. “We will either have a promotional track or a theme track. We are working on it,” said the actor.
Excited to work with Sonakshi for the first time, Sidharth said, “I have never worked with Sonakshi previously except that we did a fashion show together once. We are not playing lovers, and it’s not a run-of-the-mill typical boy-meets-girl story. It’s actually thrilling and mysterious about what happened on that one particular night. But yes, I interact with her character the most in the film.”
Sidharth and Sonakshi are all set to start shooting for the movie sometime this month.
