20 years ago on 7th February, David Dhawan’s blockbuster ‘Judwaa’, starring Salman Khan and Karisma Kapoor, hit the theatres. This year as the film celebrates its 20th anniversary, David is all set to start shooting for its much-awaited sequel ‘Judwaa 2’. “We wanted to start the journey again around the same time, it's the right time,” said the filmmaker.
The film stars David’s son Varun Dhawan in the double role alongside Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu. Excited to recreate the 90s hit, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala said, “For me, it feels like ‘Judwaa’ just happened recently as the film holds strongly in my memory. We are very excited to embark on this new journey. Working with David and Varun in the same film makes it even more special."
David has decided to also recreate two of Anu Malik’s hit tracks from the film, ‘Chalti Hai Kya Nau Se Barah“ and ‘Oonchi Hai Building’. Varun, who is a die-hard fan of the original film, can’t wait for the film to go on floors. Talking about it he said, “Judwaa is the biggest film I have done. I'm a die-hard fan of the original movie so this day is special anyway. Now, I just want to put my head down and be a part of the vision Sajid sir and dad have for the sequel".
While nothing has been confirmed yet, there have been reports about Salman Khan making a guest appearance in the film as well. The film, which will be shot in Mumbai and London, is scheduled to release on 29th September.
