After coming together for the hit anthology, 'Bombay Talkies', directors Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee are all set to reunite for Ashi Dua’s next anthology. The first anthology was created with the idea of celebrating the 100 years of Indian cinema.
Talking about the second instalment producer Ashi Dua revealed the theme for this one will be Love and Lust and further added, "It won’t be called Bombay Talkies 2 for sure."
When asked about the line-up, Ashi added,"I went back to all the four directors but I was ready to ask other filmmakers had anyone from the original line-up had turned me down. But they immediately agreed and I couldn’t be happier." The second instalment is expected to hit the theatres by the year-end or early next year.
Only Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee have shot approximately 30-minute shorts over six-eight-day schedules. Karan is presently scripting his story which will be filmed around September-October.
Ashi further added, "None of the stories are in continuation or a sequel to their respective originals. All of them will be surrounding different equations of love and lust. I can’t say which short I love the most since they’re all my babies. But it is great to enjoy the film in totality – like 'I Love New York' or 'Paris Je’taime', where you enjoy some moments a lot more but you take home the film as a whole. That’s the idea here as well."
Zoya Akhtar's short features Bhoomi Pednekar, Neil Bhoopalam and Rasika Duggal. Meanwhile, Dibakar’s film features Manisha Koirala in a never-seen-before avatar.
