While Kabir Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' remains to be one of the most successful films of the year 2015, his latest onscreen outing with Salman, 'Tubelight' failed to garner a similar response. Though the film did cross the 100 crore club, it was dubbed as one of Salman's 'worst' films by critics and audiences alike.
Talking about 'Tubelight', Kabir in a recent interview said, "I am disappointed." The director further added, "You make a film with a lot of love and conviction and if it doesn't do well the way it was expected to do, it's disheartening." However, the director further added that no matter what the response, 'Tubelight' will always remain special. The director said, "We cant expect every film to do the business like Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Every film of mine is put against Bajrangi Bhaijaan and it is unfair. I am extremely proud of 'Tubelight'."
When quizzed about the dismal response, Kabir said, "It's too early to analyse what went wrong with the film. Maybe people were not able to identify with the character of Salman. But I was happy with what Salman did and even he was playing this part." It was also reported that Salman would refund distributors to compensate for the losses incurred, to which Kabir added, “I am not a producer, I am a line producer of the film. I cant talk about it as it's about business. I think it is a great thing. Its a good gesture by Salman. For the film itself, the cost is successful."
