With films like 'Baby', 'The Ghazi Attack' and now 'Naam Shabana', Taapsee Pannu has brought some of the strongest female characters to life on the silver screen. The actress, who never planned to make a career in films, calls herself a destiny’s child and says there’s hardly anyone in the industry whose journey she can relate to.
However, there indeed are some women from the fraternity who inspire this emerging talent. In a recent interview with team MissKyra, Taapsee talked about how ‘Padmavati’ actress Deepika Padukone inspires her. “I really get inspired by the balance Deepika maintains and the kind of films she chooses.” Talking about ‘Quantico’ star Priyanka Chopra and ‘Queen’ actress Kangana Ranaut, Taapsee further added, “I really get inspired by the go-getter attitude Kangana has and I really get inspired by the never-say-die attitude Priyanka has. These three girls are really good.”
Interestingly, all these three actresses, like Taapsee, are what many call ‘outsiders’ in the Indian film industry. With many actors off late opening up about having experienced nepotism in the industry, we asked Taapsee if she ever felt that being an outsider has, in fact, worked in her favour.
To this, Taapsee said, “Because I was an outsider, I probably was only average or decent at my job; but people really loved me because they didn’t expect it out of me. If they would have seen me as a star kid, they would have expected stars and moons to happen to me, which didn’t. Probably because I was an outsider, there were zero expectations, so even half-good a performance worked for me. The pressure was not there.”
