It makes a difference when a celebrity takes stand on an issue left unattended. Whether through films, books or even through social media posts, celebrities have managed to bring to light problems that are ambiguous to the society. Recently when Karan Johar opened up about his sexual orientation, his tale received mixed reactions from the people. While many applauded the filmmaker for opening up, Karan also received flak from the LGBT community for stating - "I, Karan Johar would not say the three words." (

With Karan receiving a mixed reaction from the audiences, Manoj Bajpayee, who in 'Aligarh' played a gay professor, comes out in support of LGBT community. When we told Manoj about Karen opening up about his sexual orientation, Manoj reacted saying, "
Did he?"
Talking to us at the 62nd Jio Filmfare Pre-Award Party, the actor further added, "
Homosexuality is not a stigma in the society, but somewhere it is a stigma in the ruling classes. I don’t know for what reason is the government unfair with this segment. 'Aligarh' too dealt with the topic of Homosexuality. We don’t have respect for those who have different opinions or are different from us. I’m talking to you about this not because it is a part of 'Aligarh', but because the issue is close to me. I have so many homosexual friends, and my heart goes out to them that they have to live in a walled area where if they come out, they will be jailed."
When we asked Manoj further as to which film did he liked the most in 2016, the actor jokingly said, "
'Aligarh'. No other film did better than 'Aligarh'."
