Recently a video highlighting the plight of jawans at our borders surfaced on the internet. The video was posted on the social media sites by a BSF jawan, Tej Bahadur Yadav, who wanted to highlight the problems that the jawans face at the border. In the video, the 40-year-old BSF jawan said, "“We only get a parantha and tea as breakfast and this is without any pickle or butter or jam. For lunch, we get dal. This dal has nothing but turmeric and salt. How is a jawan expected to do his duty like this?” Talking about the rough terrain and the difficult situations that they work in, the jawan further said, “From morning to evening we work, standing in all weather conditions. No matter the rain, no matter the snow, in all conditions we do our duty, but neither the media nor any minister pay heed to our problems.”
Echoing the sentiments of the jawan, Bollywood celebrities not only shared the video from their handles, but also requested the authorities to look into the issue. Riteish Deshmukh commended the jawan for raising the issue and tweeted:
He further shared a popular quote by Napolean Bonaparte emphasising the importance of proper ration for jawans.
Farhan Akhtar urged the people to not politicise the issue, and help jawans at the border.
Randeep Hooda was appalled by the situation, and requested people to spread the message
Minister of Home Affairs, Rajnath Singh said, “I have seen a video regarding a BSF jawan’s plight. I have asked the HS to immediately seek a report from the BSF & take appropriate action.” Lets hope that the matter is resolved quickly!
