While social media has made it easier for people to connect, megastar Amitabh Bachchan believes that people who use social media should be prepared for trolls and abusers. The actor who is himself very active on social platforms, however, restrained when asked to speak on the recent Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur controversy.
At the trailer launch of his upcoming 'Sarkar 3', Big B spoke about social media, which the 73-year-old actor calls an extended-family. Talking about it, the actor said, "I think if you are on social media, you should be prepared for trolls and abuses. I enjoy it."
The question was asked in context to the recent Gurmehar Kaur controversy. While Amitabh Bachchan spoke about social media, he chooses to sidestep when asked about his opinion on the controversy. He opined, "My opinion on the matter is personal and if I share it with you, it will become public."
Gurmehar Kaur, a 24-year-old DU student, was caught in a Twitter war after she launched a campaign against the ABVP. And since then many celebrities have stated their opinions on the ongoing controversy.
