It all started with remakes in the beginning. Remakes of superhit films of yesteryears or even regional cinema were the norm. Taking a cue from western contemporaries, Bollywood also many movies coming up with sequels, prequels – with an exciting franchise of their own. The latest to join the bandwagon is the 2005 film ’Bunty Aur Babli.’ The Abhishek Bachchan-Rani Mukherjee starrer saw the two of them as con artists and Amitabh Bachchan playing a cop trying to chase the two. The film also saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a cameo for the popular song, ‘Kajra re.’ The film was a hit in the box office back then, and it’s safe to say fans are excited to hear this news.
A source close to the development told a leading daily, "The sets will be constructed in the first week of June in Mumbai and the shoot will also begin next month." The sequel was on cards for quite some time now but things fall into place recently. The source also added, "The filmmakers have roped in the original cast and they will start shooting for the film from next month."
The Abhishek-Rani duo was a hit with the audience. They were last seen together for ‘Laga Chunari Mein Daag’ that released in 2007.
On the work front, Rani Mukerji recently wrapped her shoot for the upcoming film, 'Mardaani 2' (Another sequel film for ‘Mardaani’) in Kota. In the film, Rani will be reprising her role as a Mumbai Police Superintendent, cop Shivani Shivaji Roy who rescues girls from human trafficking. Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Manmarziyaan’ alongside Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. He will next be seen Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film based on the life of poet Sahir Ludhianvi playing the titular role. It is rumoured that Deepika Padukone will play his love interest Amrita Pritam in the film.
