The hit director-actor duo, Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn during the mahurat shot of 'Golmaal Again' had announced that they intend to release the film on the Diwali weekend. However, with Shankar announcing that his Rajinikanth-starrer '2.0' is all set to release on Diwali 2017, industry hearsay suggested that makers of 'Golmaal 4' might shift their release date.
While there was no confirmation from the filmmaker's end, the reports that Aamir Khan's 'Secret Superstar' is also releasing on the Diwali weekend sent the rumour mills into overdrive. In fact, there were reports that the makers of 'Golmaal Again' had decided against a Diwali release as they were not sure about the number of screens they will get.

Confirming the news, Shibasish Sarkar, COO of Reliance Entertainment, who are onboard as co-producers said, "Golmaal Again, one of the most successful franchises of the Indian film industry, has created huge curiosity and demand among the exhibitors and distributors of the country. On their demand, we decided on a wide-scale release in the Diwali weekend of 2017, the festival period being apt for families and children."
This is not the first time that a movie from the 'Golmaal' franchise is heading for a Diwali clash. In fact, the last two instalments in the series, 'Golmaal Returns' and 'Golmaal 3' both released during Diwali and clashed with 'Fashion' and 'Action Replayy' respectively.
Post their first schedule in Mumbai, the cast of 'Golmaal Again' is currently shooting Hyderabad. A source revealed, "After this month-long schedule they will take a break, followed by another schedule in Ooty towards the end of May or early June."
