Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' was recently shrouded in controversy when real-life Geeta Phogat's coach, PR Sondhi revealed that he was unhappy with the portrayal of the coach in the film. The reports suggested that Sondhi was planning to take the legal recourse unless Aamir spoke with him and justified the unjust portrayal.
Aamir who is currently in Panchgani answered the allegation and told ANI, “In every biopic little fiction is added but essence of their story is kept intact.”
Dangal has not only managed to become the second-highest grossing film of the year, but also the highest-grossing biopic of all-time. Talking about the unprecedented success of the film, Aamir said, “People are owning it. They feel it’s their film. It’s very heartwarming and reassuring and makes us all feel very special. When we make a film, when we are part of some creative process, we sometimes don’t see the film how an audience sees it. So we don’t know the kind of effect it has on people. It does not have the same effect on us. We have seen it hundred of times.”
When quizzed about his strategy post-Dangal, Aamir revealed that he had no strategy! “I am not trying to balance anything. I am just selecting films that touch me, move me and excite me for different reasons. I don’t have any strategy or plans,” concluded the actor.
