In a few weeks from now, Chennai’s Gemini Film Circuit will flag off an ambitious Telugu-Hindi bilingual titled Mira, a musical that revolves around a beautiful violinist. While talks are on and modalities are being worked out to lock a separate set of actors and a director each for the Telugu and Hindi versions, BT has it that the leading lady will be common for both. Actress Ritika Paul, who went through several rounds of look tests and auditions for the part, has been chosen to play Mira.
Padam Kumar from Gemini Film Circuit, also the creative producer for this project, confirmed the development, saying, “We have been making bilingual and trilingual films for years, but this will be our first brush with Hindi films. We have tentatively titled our film Mira. We’re yet to finalise the male lead for the Hindi version, but it will be someone credible and known. After all the necessary audition rounds and look tests, we shot a campaign with photographer Dabboo Ratnani, who often shoots a lot of Bollywood actors. He was very impressed with Ritika.”
Dabboo adds, “Padam Kumar called me to do the photo shoot and mentioned that they are introducing a girl. When she walked in, I could see her fit the character. She has a lovely, exotic look and a charming personality. This was her first professional shoot and I was very impressed with the way she took instructions and delivered. We tried a number of outfit changes, ranging from the girl next door to ultra-glamorous. She did justice to the outfits with her versatility.”
