Winning a National Award is as huge as winning an Academy Award for the Indian film fraternity. When it comes to being a recipient of unarguably the most hard-earned film awards in the country, we tend to feel our mainstream Bollywood stars are far away from it. But that's not true at all. There are quite a few Bollywood stars out there who have won a National Award for their excellent performance in a film. Here's a list of those stars.
02/11Akshay Kumar
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar won the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2017, for his film 'Rustom'. This was the actor's first National Award and it also managed to spark up quite a controversy. Reportedly, people were upset that the award was given to him and not to 'Dangal' fame actor Aamir Khan. But be what it may, we totally agree that Akshay Kumar was worthy of the award.
03/11Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor won a National Film Award for her film 'Neerja' which touched the hearts of millions. The actress was awarded a Special Jury Award. The actress was honoured with her first National Award at the 64th edition of National Film Awards. She received the 'Special Mention Award' for her brave act in 'Neerja'. She was accompanied by her family members for the prestigious event.
04/11Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has won four National Awards in his long filmy career. He was adjudged the Best Actor for 'Agneepath', 'Black' and 'Paa' while bagging the Best Newcomer award for his debut film 'Saat Hindustani'. Now isn't that quite an impressive list?
05/11Ajay Devgn
Another Bollywood star to be honoured with the National Award and rightfully so, is actor Ajay Devgn. Ajay Devgn is a two-time National Award winner and has won the award for his sensitive role in 'Zakhm' and that of the revolutionary Bhagat Singh in 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh'.
06/11Konkona Sensharma
Konkona has already proved her skills in the industry. Daughter of multiple National Awards winning director, Aparna Sen, Konkona obviously had to prove her mettle. And she did exactly that by bagging two National Awards. She won an award for Best Actress for 'Mr. and Mrs. Iyer' directed by her mother, and an award for Best Supporting Actress for her act in 'Omkara'.
07/11Saif Ali Khan
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan surprised everyone including himself when he scooped the Best Actor Award for his film 'Hum Tum'. His win raised quite a few murmurs questioning the credibility of the awards, which became full blown after Saif was conferred the Padmashri. People were reportedly upset that Shah Rukh Khan had not won the National award in the same year.
08/11Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra is undoubtedly one of the biggest global icons out there. Not only has she made her mark in the Bollywood film industry, she has even gone on to take over the Hollywood film industry by storm. After wowing everyone with her performance in the highly acclaimed film, 'Fashion', Priyanka Chopra completed her win on a high note with a National Award for the Best Actress conferred upon her.
09/11Kangana Ranaut
Another Bollywood actress who has certainly made her mark in the industry is Kangana Ranaut. Kangana Ranaut's role as a troubled model in 'Fashion' fetched her the National Award for the Best Supporting Actress. Alongside Priyanka Chopra, Kangana made the film a treat to watch and rightly deserved the award.
10/11Arjun Rampal
