Wine lovers, screw caps are better than corks for your bottles
Find out what difference does either screw cap, or cork make to your wine bottle.

However, we cannot deny the disappointment we feel when our bottle of wine has a screw cap instead of cork. This disdain stems from the stigma around the screw caps that wine bottles with screw caps are not fine wines, and must be of poor quality.
However, as per recent research, there is no real difference between screw capped wines or wine bottles that use a cork to seal the bottle. On contrary, a percentage of wine bottles with cork topper are plagued by bacteria called TCA, giving them a flaw called ‘cork taint.’ Though not harmful, this bacterium dulls the aroma and flavour of the wine and replacing it with a musty, mouldy smell.
Screw caps are made of aluminium with a liner made of polyethene that creates a tight seal, which completely prevents oxygen infiltration. A major concern around the shift is whether screw corks are appropriate for ageing red wine. This issue was then addressed in a study where it was found that screw caps are best for retaining fruit aromas and flavours in red and white wines.
