We've all had our fair share of nosy aunties and unnecessary advice-giving uncles in our lives. These people believe that paying unwanted attention and giving unsolicited opinions to us is their life's mission and that we can't possibly know what's good for us like they do. *Dramatic eye roll. Well, so much doubt and constant negativeness can certainly lead to self-esteem issues in anyone and we're sure you've felt this way too. So, if you're looking to stay encouraged despite what these people say, here are some ways in which you can do it.
Don't let them get into your head: That's the very first thing you should do. 'Beta, when will you get married?', 'Aye haye, girls shouldn't have such late-night shifts, no?', 'Was that boy you were hugging your boyfriend?'; don't let stupid questions like these get into your head. Don't let them tell you what you can or cannot do. It's your life, you make your own choices whether it's your career, your love life or the way you choose to dress.
Don't be so hard on yourself: Sometimes it isn't even other people who are the problem, sometimes it's just us. If the term, 'I'm my own worst critic' makes you feel like you can relate to it then you really are on the wrong path. Don't beat yourself up over unnecessary things and think about how you can improve as a person. Sometimes all you need is a little bit of that self-love and you end up feeling so much better in no time.
Address your issues: How many times have you caught yourself feeling super embarrassed about something that happened in the past? Sometimes these things date as far back as a decade and you still feel like you need to be embarrassed about them. Well, that isn't going to do your self-esteem any benefits is it? What you need to do is address your memories and your past and make peace with it. Understand that certain things happened but they cannot be changed now and that it is time to let go.
All you need to do is be yourself and try to be the best version of yourself. People will always say what they want to say anyway, so don't let their opinions affect you. Stay tuned for more updates.
