The cleanser is an essential and most minimal part of a skincare routine. As there are so many kinds of facial cleansers available in the market that claim to do the same for your skin, it can be a little intimidating to choose. Added to this, if you’re someone who has sensitive skin then this simple job can become more meticulous. There are few things that everyone with sensitive skin condition should consider while buying a new facial cleanser to avoid further irritating their skin.
Start by reading the ingredient list of the products. Ingredients mentioned on top of the list is usually the one with the higher concentration and as you go down the list, the level of concentration decreased. This will help you to determine how effective the cleanser can be for your skin. It’s best to try medical or over the counter cleansers as they usually have only a few ingredients.
Go for fragrance free cleanser to prevent sensitising your skin further. Added chemical scents and essential oils can further irritate your skin and cause redness in some cases. Avoid cleansers with alcohol content, AHA and other harsh acids for the skin.
Look for a cleanser that can restore the skin’s natural pH level without stripping off its natural oils. You might think cleansers with a good lather are great to give you that squeaky-clean effect, however, it does harm than any good. Stick to gel-based cleansers or soap-free and SLS-free formulas.
Cleansing bar soaps are a big no-no for people with sensitive skin. Any facial cleanser containing soap is too harsh for the facial skin.
