Skipping meals or eating certain foods can give you acidity at times, also called as a heartburn. The acid reflux leaves a burning sensation in the lower area of your chest especially when the stomach acid moves up into the food pipe. Some of the common risk factors for acid reflux are lying down immediately after a meal, eating big meals, obesity, drinking certain beverages like carbonated drinks, tea or coffee, smoking, eating citrus fruits, garlic, spicy foods or onion. Taking medicines like aspirin, blood pressure medicines or even muscle relaxers can give acidity.
Other common symptoms of acid reflux are burping, bloating , nausea or dysphagia - which is a sensation of the food being stuck in the throat.
One of the celebrity nutritionist happened to share some easy food hacks that can prevent acidity which is a common problem among people. She also mentioned that one shouldn't take long gaps between meals.
She further advised:
- Have curd with soaked poha at around 11 am or around 4-6 pm. You can soak poha in a bowl with some curd and black salt before you start eating.
- You can start your day with black raisins that are soaked overnight after you drink a glass of water. This is also help with premenstrual syndrome (PMS), indigestion and bloating.
- You can also mix some gulkand in a glass full of water and sip it throughout the day. You can even have this post your dinner if you are suffering from acidity along with insomnia. People can also break the fast with a glass of gulkand water during Ramzaan. It also works well to beat the heat.
