While the monsoon season may almost have found its way to Mumbai, most of the country is suffering from massive heat waves this year. Global warming has started to show its ugly face as temperatures have hit a new high in the country. Places like Bihar are seeing massive surges in the temperatures that have reached to around 50 degrees Celsius and many lives have been claimed due to these high temperatures. One of the most common things that make people sick during summers is heat strokes. If you're living in a place where it's very easy for you to get a heat stroke then here are some cautions you can take to prevent getting one. Take a look.
02/5Stay hydrated all day
Let water come to your rescue. Make sure that you carry a bottle of water wherever you go and keep sipping on it so that you don't get dehydrated. Stay away from warm beverages like tea and coffee and also avoid drinking aerated drinks as all of these can dehydrate you. Stick to water, fresh juices and coconut water or lassi and buttermilk. These are the most ideal options for the season.
03/5Avoid going out during peak heat hours
Try not to step out into the sun between 11 am to 3 pm as these are the hours when the sun's rays are the strongest. It can dehydrate you almost instantly and can drain your energy quickly. Also, make sure that you're not doing any strenuous physical activity during this time as it can take a toll on your body.
04/5Eat the right foods
Say no to meat this season as it can produce heat in the body and can make things worse for you. Stick to fresh fruits and vegetables instead as they can really help keep you fresh. Greens and onions also help soothe the stomach so try adding those to your diet as well.
05/5Wear sunscreen all the time
Make sure that you apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes prior to stepping out of the house. Opt for one that can give your skin the appropriate protection during the heat and from the sun's rays. Carry your sunscreen with you if you're going to be standing in the heat for long so that you can just reapply it every few hours.
