Feeling tired is normal for all us. There are many things in our day, like stress and even unhealthy foods, that can cause us to feel tired. A good night's sleep and less coffee can help you tackle this issue with ease. However, if you still feel tired and sleepy after trying to rectify this problem, you may have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), popularly known as ME, is an illness that one can experience long-term. Here are some of the CFS symptoms you need to be aware of:
- Extreme exhaustion
- Sleep issues
- Muscle or joint pain
-Headaches
- Sore throat
- Sore glands
- Unable to remember or concentrate
- Feel dizzy
- Feel ill
- Experience irregular heartbeats.
According to The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), CFS symptoms can be just as disruptive as chronic conditions like multiple sclerosis, congestive heart failure, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. CFScan have a huge impact on your daily life. The severity of CFS can vary from person to person.
Action for ME,a self-help group, reveals there are three levels of severity. Their website reveals: "People with moderate CFS/M.E. have reduced mobility and are restricted in all activities of daily living, although they may have peaks and troughs in their level of symptoms and ability to do activities.
"They have usually stopped work, school or college and need rest periods, often sleeping in the afternoon for one or two hours. Their sleep at night is generally poor quality and disturbed.
"People with severe CFS/M.E. are unable to do any activity for themselves or can carry out minimal daily tasks only (such as face washing, cleaning teeth). They have severe cognitive difficulties and depend on a wheelchair for mobility.
"They are often unable to leave the house or have a severe and prolonged after-effect if they do so. They may also spend most of their time in bed, and are often extremely sensitive to light and noise."
While there is no test for CFS currently, it is wise to consult with your doctor if you are experiencing these symptoms. This way you can receive the proper treatment to tackle CFS before it leads to serious medical conditions.
