While exercising is one of the key components to having a healthy lifestyle, exercising on the right time makes all the more difference. According to a recent study, it could be the key to successful weight loss. The study also states that a consistent time in exercising irrespective of the intensity is detrimental to the success of weight loss programs.
For the study, the research team studies 375 adults who had successfully maintained weight also those who engaged in moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity. The team reported that the participants with the most consistent time of the exercise time, with early morning being the most common showed better results.
The study added that being consistent in the timing of physical activity had an association with higher physical activity levels, irrespective of whether people exercised consistently during the morning or evening.
“Our findings warrant future experimental research to determine whether promoting consistency in the time of day that planned and structured physical activity is performed can help individuals achieve and sustain higher levels of physical activity.” said senior author Dale Bond, PhD of the Brown Alpert Medical School. “It will also be important to determine whether there is a specific time of the day that is more advantageous for individuals who have initial low physical activity levels to develop a physical activity habit,”said first author Leah Schumacher, PhD.
