Lately, there has been a lot of talk about Shah Rukh Khan’s children Aryan and Suhana following their father’s footsteps and making a career in Bollywood. There were even some reports about Karan Johar launching Aryan in the sequel of ‘Student of the Year’. Recently in an interview, SRK decided to open up and clear the air around the subject.
Talking about how important education is for him and his kids, Shah Rukh said, “In my home and family, there’s a minimum qualification to be an actor. If you aren’t a graduate, I believe you can’t be an actor. I’m really sorry for all the actors who are not graduates. It’s not because I look down upon people who are not. But I am a graduate and I believe education has helped me beyond my limit.”
Talking about Suhana’s inclination towards acting the superstar said, “My daughter is in the 11th grade but she has to graduate. She loves acting – on stage, TV, films or street – and, she is quite a good actor, at least for her age. So, I would like to encourage her. But the encouragement will happen only post her graduation.”
Shah Rukh said that while Aryan has never shown interest in acting, off late he has been drawn to filmmaking, “My son has never shown interest in acting. But, of late he has started showing interest in filmmaking and got into ULCA and USC (USA), which came to me as a tremendous surprise but a pleasant one. He has completed his first year, so there are three more years to go.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar has often said that he keeps tabs on what Aryan is up to and if he comes across any pictures of him on social media he calls him even if it is in the middle of the night to ask him where was it clicked and who he was with. He has even said that it will be him who would launch Aryan, talking about which Shah Rukh said, “I don’t think they are being launched right now. But Karan means it both jokingly and seriously. Aryan does visit my film sets sometimes, and I am very proud. He came the other day just to learn about lighting; not to see his father act or learn about lightning in the first year. He sat with the cameraman without even asking me. He was there for two hours, just learning the techniques. He told me, ‘Papa, it was no nice.’ So he didn’t visit as a producer or as a he’s hero son or someone who wanted to learn acting. I feel, ‘Let him learn the craft and then see if he has the same love for acting as I do.”
Well, it seems like there’s still a lot of time before we see Aryan and Suhana carry forward their father’s legacy.
