Salman Khan, during the interviews of 'Sultan', had mentioned that as a child his father (Salim Khan) would often tell him stories about Gama Pehalwan. The actor even went on to say that for 'Sultan' he took inspiration from Gama Pehalwan.
Reportedly, the actor was also planning to make a film inspired by Gama Pehalwan's life but dropped the idea as John Abraham too was planning to make a film on the sportsman. However, a leading tabloid now reports that Salman is all set to produce a biopic on Gama Pehelwan for television.
A source close to the tabloid revealed, "This will mark Salman Khan's first television project as a producer. The pilot episode has been shot and sent to the channel concerned."
The source further adds, "The story is set in Amritsar, Gama's hometown, during the Partition. The show opens with a rioting scene and a few minutes into it, a 65-year-old Gama Pahelwan makes an entry."
The tabloid also reports that Salman's younger brother Sohail Khan will play the wrestler in the television show. And the story will revolve around Gama's undefeated career spanning over five decades.
Gama is considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers. The wrestler moved to Pakistan post Independence in 1947 and died at the age of 82 in 1960. The source further adds that the "casting for future episodes is underway."
