‘Pakeezah’ actress Geeta Kapoor was recently admitted to a hospital in Goregaon by her son Raja, who later abandoned her. The actress was admitted due to her falling blood pressure and when the hospital demanded the son to make a deposit, he left the premises on the pretext of looking for an ATM to withdraw the money, only to never come back.
Nonetheless, the doctors began the treatment as Geeta’s health condition was critical. They also tried to contact Raja and Geeta’s daughter Pooja, but there was no response from either. Since then, Geeta has been at the hospital, abandoned by her family, while her bill has reached a sum of 15 lakhs. In a recent interview, Geeta revealed how she had been ill-treated by her son in the past.
“He used to beat me up as I did not approve of his philandering ways. He would give me food once in four days, and sometimes, even lock me up for several days. I was not ready to go to an old-age home, that’s why he planned all this. He deliberately kept me hungry and I fell ill. Then, he got me admitted and fled," said Geeta.
A Jagran report claims that on reading this news, filmmaker Ramesh Taurani and Ashoke Pandit came forward to pay the actress’s bill. There are further reports that the hospital has lodged a complaint against Geeta’s family and are trying to trace them, who have moved out of their flat and are nowhere to be found.
