Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees', which has opened to phenomenal response in India, has failed to release in Pakistan, owing to permission issues. In a recent interview, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Raees' expressed her regret over the matter.
Talking to a leading Pakistani daily, Mahira said that her Pakistan fans were disappointed by the fact that the film could not release in the country. The actress said, “I am the first Pakistani actress who got the opportunity to work with Shah Rukh Khan as the main lead. But I feel that my success and fame has come under the evil eye due to which my film has not been able to release in Pakistan.”
However, the actress further added that she has hope about the film's release in Pakistan for the ban on Indian films in Pakistan has been lifted. Talking about the move to screen Indian films in Pakistan, Mahira added, “It is a good sign that the exhibition of Bollywood films is being reopened in the country.”
The actress confessed that it is no ordinary task to prove one's mettle in Bollywood, as it is a big industry, and any artist who does so makes the country proud. When asked if the success of her Bollywood debut has made her shift focus from Pakistani films, the actress quipped, "Pakistani films are my priority, however; I had never compromise on the role. I will work in films based on quality productions and significant characters.”
