Due to the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan, Fawad Khan wasn’t part of the promotions for Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ in spite of having a pivotal role in the film. His part was even axed out of the movie’s trailer and songs. This made people wonder whether Fawad’s ‘Humsafar’ so-star Mahira Khan, who is the leading lady in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Raees’ would have to face similar consequences.
However, the makers decided on giving Mahira major space in the trailer of the film and her songs too were released without editing her out. In a recent interview with ‘BBC Urdu’, Mahira opened about the issue and talked about how she felt about not being able to promote the film:
Of course, I feel bad. When you put so much effort and hard work in a project, you wish to see the results. I work with same dedication and zeal in all my projects, but ‘Raees’ is very special,” said Mahira.
Talking about Fawad’s role being cut short due to the MNS threat and about her part in ‘Raees’ Mahira said, “I’m not privy to that but I am content with my part in ‘Raees’.”
Does she think her presence in the movie would create problems? Expressing her apprehensions regarding this she said, “I’m scared about saying what I feel. I believe I’ll end up causing offense. It is unfortunate, though.”
‘Raees’ is all set to hit the theatres on 25th January.
