The industry sent in wishes as Karan Johar took to Twitter to announce the arrival of his twins, Yash Johar and Roohi Johar, through surrogacy. Not only was the filmmaker ecstatic sharing the news, he was also embracing single fatherhood with pride. However, he wanted his twins to stay away from the media glare and made sure that no media got a glimpse of them.
His close friends in the industry were the only people got to see and meet the twins once they were home. And while Karan is enjoying his single fatherhood, the filmmaker has taken a break from work to be with his little ones. In a recent interview with Barkha Dutt at Town Hall, KJo spoke about fatherhood. He said, "Adoption is not legal for single fathers, so surrogacy was my only choice."
When asked how Yash and Roohi were doing, the filmmaker said, "They do a lot of sleeping and I do a lot of staring." Further adding, "My life is my decision, only my mother's opinion matters."
In the same interview, he was also asked about the nepotism controversy. To which KJo said, "I was not at all. I felt like I was attacked, she was the missile and I was the target. I was not being nepotistic or sexist, I was just like she has her opinion and she is giving her thoughts. She clearly learned those 12 lines and came and they were wonderful. Even I learn my lines for any interview, these are not criticism."
He further added, "She had an opinion, she is an exceptional talent and I have always said that. She has her opinion and she said it. Two weeks later I was given a platform and I said what I had to. I don't know what to say, what she meant, whereas I have never crossed paths with her beyond here and there. She decided to choose me, to make her point which is fine."
