Akshay Kumar, who recently won the coveted National Award for his portrayal of Rustom Pavri, a naval officer in 'Rustom' revealed that he wants to play the part of ex-cop who killed Veerappan in near future. Akshay Kumar launched the book, 'Veerappan – Chasing the Brigand' by IPS K Vijay Kumar in Mumbai on Wednesday.
During the launch, when asked Akshay if given a choice between the bandit and the cop, which role would he prefer, Akshay revealed,
"Both Veerappan and Vijay Kumar's characters are really interesting but I would love to play the role of Vijay Kumar because the whole planning has been done by him and how brilliantly he executed the entire operation."Now a retired officer, K Vijay Kumar had headed the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force that executed Veerappan in 2004. The book written by K Vijay Kumar reveals the various incidents that shaped Veerappan's life from his birth in 1952 to his death in 2004 in a shootout after years of police efforts.
Akshay has previously played the roles of officers from the Indian armed forces in films like, 'Rustom', 'Holiday: A soldier is never off duty', 'Rowdy Rathore' to name a few. If the film does happen, it will definitely be interesting to see Akshay step into the shoes of K Vijay Kumar.
On the work front, Akshay is currently busy shooting for wife Twinkle's debut production 'PadMan' alongside Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. The 'Namastey London' actor will next be seen onscreen in 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha' alongside Bhumi Pednekar, Anupam Kher and Sana Khan.
