Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan is known to be very vocal about the topics close to her heart. The actress proved it once again when she spoke about crimes against women in the country during the Rajya Sabha session.
Recently Jaya Bachchan turned heads during a Rajya Sabha session when she reacted to BJP Youth Leader Yogesh Varshney declaring a bounty of Rs 11 Lakhs on Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee's head.
Yogesh Varshney, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Yuva Morcha called the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamta Banerjee a "demon" and said, "When I saw the video, I only had one thought... that if anyone gets me Mamata Banerjee's head I will give them 11 lakh."
Reacting to these comments, Jaya asserted, "Mahilao ke protection ke liye bahut aggressively step lena zaroori hai. Gayon ko aap bacha sakte hai par mahilaon pe atyachar ho raha hai. Kis tarah se aap log baat kar rahe hai." She then gets very angry and says, "How dare somebody talk like this and specially against a woman? When today women are feeling really insecure. Is this what you should be promoting? Aap log to saare akhbaron ko control karte hai, to iss tarah ke news kaise chap jata hai ."
While the co-MPs were less than co-operative, Jaya Bachchan did put her point across.
